The council of higher education, Manipur was created in the year 1992 under the provision of the Manipur higher secondary act, and the main purpose of creating this council to develop the educational system in Manipur state and before this council 10+2 courses in the state was conducted by the board of secondary education. For example Manipur University was created on 5th June 1980 and after a long time of near about 23 years it was changed into a central university in 2005.
